When we are constantly trying to fix or improve ourselves, we can end up avoiding and numbing our feelings, which can lead to self-sabotage, being stuck, general heaviness, and even illness. Stuffing, judging and avoiding our feelings can lead to emotional inflammation, which can cause physical inflammation.
Cultivating more self-compassion is not selfish. Believe it or not, it is quite self-less. When we feel more kindness towards ourself, we our more accepting of others and freed up to create, contribute and serve.
Perhaps you don't need to become a better person, heal all your issues, eat better or work out more. Perhaps all you need is to cultivate more self-kindness so you can love and accept yourself as you are, right now.
